When I chew the food I throw into my mouth, either carelessly or casually or even with strife in the heart, and notice the hard work the teeth do, often without any sense of gratitude on my part, I praise the creator again for the marvelous operation which takes place in the mouth which makes the food a suitable candidate to get into my blood stream and give me energy.
A recent revelation which came to me when I read a research paper in a medical journal is that the teeth play an important role in keeping the heart healthy. Neglect your teeth and you are opening a path to coronary problems. Oh, what a connection! Another mystery of the body. And when this medical truth dawned upon me, my heart beamed another "Thank you" to Dr Biju Thomas, who gave me four strong, sturdy, rock-like teeth in a couple of days, by giving me the comfort of his dentist's chair (he made me throw away all my fears about a dentist's chair) and subjecting me to the gracious movements of his dancing fingers for some hours.
I remember Dr Biju every time I chew my food and thank him for his gift. I also recall the charming hours I spent in his cosy, secure cubicle which witnesses his dedicated work with intense concentration. Oh, what a master craftsman! What dedication! What professional perfection! The training which he was lucky to get from the genius of the dental surgeon, in Sweden, if I remember right, who invented the method of implanting of teeth in the place of indulging in endless cruel extractions, filling the cavity etc has been perfected by Dr Biju and the result is his becoming a healer who blends the science and art of implanting of teeth with the least pain or discomfort and with the maximum speed and beauty. While being a perfectionist in his work and ensuring that every movement he makes is exact and invested with maximum concentration, Dr Biju does not forget to crack jokes and join me in heart-warming laughter when I crack jokes about dentists. As this happened often in the course of the time I spent with him, the 'operation implant' also filled me with delight. We discussed not only teeth but also life. Which best place other than a dentist's chair to discuss the joy of living?
Dr Biju, my teeth will be the lasting monument and witness to the miracle you do. You are a gift of LIFE indeed. May God keep you in the best of health and may your soul be always luminous to enable you to give the divine gift of healthy, strong and inviolable teeth by the happy, dedicated exercise of your mastery of the science and art of implanting. I have no words to adequately express my gratitude to you. I can only pack as much emotion as possible into the glorious words "THANK YOU!"
